Gratitude Grant - Backpack Pals

Supporting Our Community

Sanford Elks Lodge #1679 is proud to continue making a difference in our community by supporting programs that help local children and families.

This year, our Lodge proudly presented the Lee County Backpack Pals Program with a $4,500 donation through the Elks National Foundation Gratitude Grant. This grant is awarded to lodges that demonstrate strong support of the Elks National Foundation through the generosity of their members. Because of that support, these funds are returned to our community to help meet local needs.

The Backpack Pals Program provides weekend meals to children who may not have reliable access to food when school is not in session. This donation will help ensure that students in Lee County have nutritious meals available when they need them most.

In addition, many of our members and their families have volunteered with the Christians United Outreach Center of Lee County (CUOC) Summer Food Program. Throughout the summer, volunteers help prepare, package, and distribute meals to children and families, ensuring that no child goes hungry while school is out. Their willingness to give their time reflects the spirit of Elkdom and our commitment to serving those in need.

Community service has always been at the heart of our Order. Through the support of the Elks National Foundation and the dedication of our members, Sanford Elks Lodge #1679 continues to invest in programs that strengthen our community, support our youth, and provide hope to families facing food insecurity.
