Sanford Elks Lodge #1679 believes that investing in young people means investing in the future of our community. Through youth activities, scholarships, recognition programs and the support of the Elks National Foundation, the Elks help young people develop confidence, perseverance, leadership and the skills they need to succeed.
🏀 ELKS HOOP SHOOT
Building Grit — One Free Throw at a Time
The Elks Hoop Shoot is a free-throw competition for boys and girls ages 8–13. For more than 50 years, the program has challenged young people to set goals, work hard, overcome setbacks and keep trying—the qualities the Elks describe as “grit.”
Participants begin at the local level and can advance through District, State and Regional competitions to the National Finals. Six National Champions ultimately earn a special place in Elks Hoop Shoot history, with their names and photographs displayed in a digital exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.

🎓 ELKS SCHOLARSHIPS
Helping Students Reach Their Goals
Education is another important part of the Elks' commitment to America's youth. Through the Elks National Foundation, millions of dollars are invested in scholarship programs that help deserving students pursue higher education.
For the current scholarship cycle, the Most Valuable Student Scholarship awards are available to students pursuing a four-year degree and are based on leadership, service, academics and financial need. Students do not need to be related to an Elk to apply. The Legacy Awards provide scholarships specifically for eligible children and grandchildren of Elks members.
